About Historic Edgefield County:

Red Hill Farm

The "Gateway to Southern History," Edgefield County was established in 1785 and in its over 225 year history has produced many prominent leaders and foremost businessmen throughout our State and Nation including 10 South Carolina Governors. Acclaimed Journalist W.W. Ball stated "Edgefield County has produced more dashing, brilliant, romantic figures, statesmen, orators, soldiers, adventurers, and daredevils than any other county in South Carolina if not of any other rural county in America."

Edgefield is rich in farming history and continues to be a major force in the production of peaches and other row crops. It is also home to the wildlife conservation headquarters of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
