The 50+/- acre Crossway Pond waterfowl sanctuary is the pride of the plantation. This pond, formerly an old lake that was drained by the rail road company, is a transition between a marsh, open lake, and thick titi cover. It offers excellent habitat and access by the way of a yearly lease to access the former railroad line to access the duck pond. During the 2006 early season there were 180 teal and over 250 wood ducks on the pond feeding throughout the day. During the regular season the population increased as the ducks also began roosting on one end of the pond. Numerous smaller ponds also hold birds depending on the season.
